Two main reasons for choosing a machine gearbox revision
There are two main reasons for choosing a machine gearbox overhaul: a high service factor and a high capacity. The former is required for applications where the output torque and speed are constant, while the latter is required for applications where the radial load may change periodically.
Cyclic movement requires a higher service factor. This is because the gear teeth wear more when they start and stop constantly. Therefore, the service factor should be higher in cyclical movement. Another important reason is that the service factor must be increased for reciprocating movements, which increases the risk of damage to the gears and bearings. If these factors are not taken into account, the machine gearbox may fail prematurely.
